Acid medium: Monel 400 is resistant to corrosion at concentrations less than 85% of sulfuric acid. Monel 400 is one of the few important materials resistant to hydrofluoric acid. Water corrosion :M400 alloy in most cases of water corrosion, not only excellent corrosion resistance, and pore corrosion, stress corrosion and so on are rarely found, corrosion speed is less than 0.025mm/a high temperature corrosion :M400 in the air continuous working temperature is generally about 600℃, in high temperature steam, corrosion speed is less than 0.026mm/a. Ammonia: Due to the high nickel content of Monel 400 alloy, it can resist the corrosion of anhydrous ammonia below 585℃ and ammoniated conditions.

The corrosion resistance of Monel K500 in general solid solution state is basically the same as that of Monel 400 alloy. Therefore, the corrosion resistance data of Monel 400 can be fully applied to Monel K500 alloy. Due to the low corrosion rate of the alloy in flowing seawater and the high strength of the alloy, the alloy is particularly suitable for the manufacture of seawater corrosion resistant centrifugal pump shafts.
